The Full Story

11th Grade ACP

Through guided reflection with their ACP advisors, juniors will research what is needed to be successful on the paths they are considering, assess themselves against those requirements and refine their plan as needed to meet their personal goals. This may be done through job shadows, interviews, career speakers and more. With these experiences students will be able to develop an actionable plan for their future.

Mission

The goals of the 11th grade ACP are for students to begin making decisions about post-secondary options and careers.  Students will learn about the cost of post-secondary programs and explore options to pay for college.  Students will visit Northwood Tech and UWBC campuses and choose to participate in program or student shadows.  Students will also learn about work-based options such as job shadows, internships, youth-apprenticeships, as well as develop job-seeking and job-keeping skills.

Vision

In the 11th grade students will begin to make decisions regarding their post-secondary choices. They will complete the following:

  • Goals of the 11th Grade ACP

  • Post-Secondary Investigations

  • Complete a job shadow experience related to a post secondary choice

  • Work Based Learning Options

  • Xello Lessons and Activities

About Us

College and Career Ready

Whether your post-secondary goals include attending a competitive 4-year University, the local 2-year Community & Technical College, joining a branch of the military or applying to enter the workforce immediately upon graduation, your course of study and how you perform during high school directly impacts what options you will have.

We want to encourage students to challenge themselves at the most rigorous level possible but we also want to see students able to monitor and balance all activities when choosing high school courses. It is important to consider your involvement in leadership opportunities, athletics, music, community service, employment, and other extracurricular activities when choosing your course load.
